For all B-17 lovers (scale 1:1 version)
I was looking for information and walkarounds of B-17s to gather as much material as possible for the project of the B-17G paper model.
I stumbled upon something even better than any possible reference material: A thread at WIX (Warbirds Information Exchange) about the complete restoration of B-17G 4493735 "Mary Alice" at the Duxford Military Museum. You can see a wonderful thread with lots of photos documenting the ongoing process. B-17 lovers will undoubtely drool over this Warbird Information Exchange • View topic - B-17G ~ 44-83735 ~ the Mary Alice thread ..... enjoy!

Thank you so much for posting this!!! My neighbor's Father was a navigator with the 401st Bomb Group at Deenthorpe and this plane's markings make looking at these pictures all the more interesting to me.
BTW, my neighbor's Dad was Robert Grilley and he wrote down his memoirs in the book: Return From Berlin: The Eye of a Navigator |
