Smile A wrong righted.

Today it was announced that the Royal designation that was stripped from the Canadian Navy and Airforce is restored. Sierra Hotel and Bravo Zulu to PM Harper.

oh really?
so its back to "royal" canadian airforce?
thats cool

but did we not get rid of airforce and navy?
isn't all "Armed Forces" now?

so that would be Royal Canadian Armed Forces then?

whatever, I think its right to recognize and stay properly connected to the Empire
regardless of what the so-called 'french" think! lol

oh haha I forgot what I said! sorry lol

(for anyone who doesn't get it, I meant the British Empire!)

on the same note...did you see the video, of the Queen's Guard band,
playing the Empire March (Star Wars) when Qaddafy came for a visit?!!
For real!
(I think it was Qaddafy...it was one of those scatterbrains)

.......................

not ten minutes ago, saw a News article on TV about the name changes.
Maritime Command will return to Royal Canadian Navy
Canada's Air Force will return to Royal Canadian Air Force
and Army will still be Canadian Army (they will use Royal for specific Regiments)

Already, groups are screaming about the fact that "Canada is not part of the Empire anymore"
and yet, they just finished fawning over and entertaining the new Royal couple!
Sheesh, make up your minds.
If it wasn't for Great Britain, where would Canada get cheap Submarines?

This change seems to be making a lot of retired service men and women plus some sectors of the public very happy.

A lot of pressure was put on the government by retired service persons groups, veterans associations and royalist groups to a make this change. Those presently serving in the Canadian Forces (the rank and file were not consulted about the change) are not as uniformly pleased.

I admit to belonging to all of the above, and have to say that I always felt faintly ashamed to appear in the green bus drivers suit that we were forced into. I also bought a lot of grief for steadfastly insisting that this would come to pass someday from the Hellyer yes men. So yes I am dead pleased.

The Army does not recieve the Royal treatment. Every other branch does.

Not really sure why this was done because this is going to cost a lot of money. =\
