Betty Skelton and the Lil' Stinker
If you are old enough, you will remember the Pitts Little Stinker, and probably Betty Skelton, the owner and pilot. Betty, who died at the age of 85, on Aug. 31, was quite the adventerious woman. Soloed at 12, then legally at 16, going on to become an aerobatic star and record setter. She also set a women's speed record in a Corvette of 145 mph is 1956, and later took the jet powered Green Monster Cyclops to 316 mph!
My brother built a controline model of the Little Stinker (Berkley kit, I believe) and I was envious because it came out better than most of mine! It finally rotted away in our parents attic. Her story is in the New York Times Sunday Sept. 11th issue. I don't know of a serious paper model of the Little Stinker, but it would make a nice show piece if there was. |

There are a couple Pitts Specials available at ecardmodels. Marek's 1:33 is a S-2B, so its not exact, but it might be fairly easily modified and repainted into the Lil' Stinker. And the Hairston Aviation 11-livery pack includes some S-1's so it might even be included - would have to check with Chris on that.
