langerhans cell histiocytosis

I normally do not do this but my wife says to let folks know whats going on with me so that everyone I deal with has an understanding of things when I just do not seem right. Those of you who read my face book can skip this.

Some six years ago or so I started having what the doctors thought was a recurring staph infection. After some healthy doses of antibiotics it would go away, for awhile.

Turns out that I have langerhans cell histiocytosis. yah, say that three times fast. I am like one of a handful of adults to get this odd cancer. It was even featured on House once. Anyhow, now that it has been properly diagnosed plans are set for me to go to Texas to see a specialist.

Anyhow, because of all this, I have been unable to work for the past couple of months, I have been hurting (and grumpy as hell) and I have been inconstant in my dealings with others. Being self employed I have no insurance so my kids Christmas has taken a big slide down the present ladder. Some days I just do not even want to get out of bed, but it hurts to lay there any longer.

Before I get to sounding too pitiful, I will say this: I am bless, in so many ways. First, this crap is treatable. Then of coarse I have a strong woman to lean on, my wife has been an angel through all this. My Doctors here have thus far found ways to treat me and not bankrupt me, God bless them. My father in law is using his air points to pay for a good chunk of our plane tickets to Texas when the time comes. And my kids will be getting presents from their grandparents. We are going to do our Christmas at church this year, and maybe get a bit closer to the real reason for the season, as they say. And my MRI came back saying no brain issues! Some disagree...Oh, And the money from you wonderful people who by my models has come in and filled gaps in our finances at just the right moment. It is amazing what $50 or $100 might do for a guy when the timing is right. Anyhow...So things could be so much the worse.

Even so, I do get to feeling sorry for myself, cranky, grouchy, even a bit nasty from time to time. Not only do I hurt, but some times I need help getting up from sitting or even changing my own clothes. I have limited strength/use in my left arm now. It can be, humbling. So if I have done something or written something that seems out of character for me I apologize. Please forgive me and if you are the religious type, any prays mentioning me would make me most grateful.

Anyhow, sorry for the pity story, but I must do as my wonderful wife says.

Corey

We're all on the road, we'll all get there one way or another. It's good to travel with friends.

Hi Corey,

We have not talked directly before but through you posts and models I feel that we are friends. And as friends, I wish you a speedy recovery and well wishes. I am familier with an illness that crepts up on you and know how important it is to talk to your family and friends during this time. keep them both close.

Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happier New Year!

Respectfully,
Dennis

For a host of reasons, you and your Family have my Prayers and Best Wishes for a swift recovery Corey.
This year has taught me much about things that come upon a person, seemingly from out of nowhere.
So, I feel for your Family and yourself.

May all be well with You and Yours Corey, for Christmas, the New Year, and thereafter.

Kind and Respectful Regards and Blessed Be Corey, Uyraell.
