Forgive me. You are correct, though it's fair to say I'd considered only the prototypes powered by the Hercules Radials and forgotten the limited series production.

My thought had been to point out that the majority of Lancasters had been Merlin Engined (yet the voiceover spoke of "radial engined bombers"), and that the connection with PT658 had been the marinised Packard Merlins, which in aero-engine form had powered various marks of Lancaster.

In concentrating on that aspect I quite overlooked the Hercules serial production.

I've always admired those WWII PT boats as they were the last wooden warships that were constructed for sea battle.
Those small wooden boats that were designed to fight metal clad warships should be just as significant as the first ironclads were made to take down the wooden naval vessels.

Arrghh! I lived in Portland for a couple years before moving up here to Seattle. I would have liked to have seen her.
