Work brought me to Elmira New York one day in the early '70's and I couldn't resist taking a ride in a sailplane. I was hooked and finally got my pilots licence (sailplane only). I've been flying without a motor ever since. I also fly RC aircraft and kites. That explains johnflys2. My avator came about because I saw too many items being made in far away places. John

Funny. If we work initials last name first, mine become WRY -- which fits very well with my personality.

I like architectural models, so for my forum name I chose an architectural style that I enjoy.

My avatar is an old Art Deco department store here in Shanghai (I'm an American living in China). Shanghai has loads of wonderful early 20th century western architecture, a legacy of its colonial heyday.

Mine is ALMOST the name I was born with. My avatar is a reference to a misspent youth, listening to Art of Noise and watching Max Headroom.

My Forum name is a shortened version of my full name and is the name by which most people know me.

My avatar is a recent photo of me. When I first began participating in the Forum I used my old Army War College computer name (last name and first initial): boosed (which I pronounced "boose ed," but apparently was perceived as something like "boost"). My previous avatar (image 1, below) was a 54-year-old photo of me as a Navy ROTC Midshipman at Cornell because I like maritime history. But I also like to see what my Forum friends and interlocutors look like, so I switched to my actual name and a more current image.

The other image that appears in my profile is the jacket photo from one of my books, US Army Forces in the Korean War.

I have Marcaurelio as middle name.
I like it, but it is so long & complicated and nobody is use it.
My first name is Guglielmo, equally impossible.

My forum name refers to where I live and what I like to do here in Western North Carolina, though living in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains offers a wonderful range of great activities. My avatar is a not-so-recent pic of me taken by my beloved wife Essie shortly after we met. Some of you might remember me from my New Mexico days when my name was Cecil Severs. After marriage, Essie and I combined our two last names and I decided that I wanted a new first name as well.
