format loss

Just called up Chris Gutzmer's How do Publishers Print thread and this is what came up. Any ideas? Hasn't happened on anything else I've clicked on.

PaperModelers.com (http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/)
- The CardBoard Lounge (http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/cardboard-lounge/)
- - Who knows how the publishers print? (Who knows how the publishers print?)

cgutzmer 06-25-2009 07:19 PM Who knows how the publishers print?

Can anyone tell me what kinds of equipment the professional publishing houses use? This is for cardmodels of course, I dont need to know how Harry Potter books are printed
Thanks!
Chris

It did for me a couple times too.... looks like a server glitch, I am sure it will be fine in short order! Of course the cardmodels.info directory is having issues too since I started looking at it so maybe its me

I have posted the same thing in the mod thread hoping to catch Jason's attention. Seems that particular post is wonky for everybody.
Oh - and I seem to remember Modelik having a 'walkthrough' of their model shop and printing studies including listings of their printing equipment, but when I went to their site now I couldn't find it.

I assume some models becuae of poor color registration, they are done by lithography or screening. If the colors they are off registration that indicate the colors are not print together like on a computer.

I got the same thing on that thread. As far as I know they are primarily printed through offset photo-lithography - same as photos in a magazine. Occasionally I've seen some from very small houses printed on inkjet or some such printers.

I know there are some people with a lot of printshop experience here and I'm sure they could elaborate. I only really know etching and stone lithography...
