Well there are certainly more plastic kits available in the modern civilian vehicles genre than there are in card. But in the end, its more about the model than the medium. Enjoy what you do.

I have a steady gig building slot racing cars for myself and others, so that's kinda my second day job--and I was looking forward to a nice long forced convalescence, during which I could sit around and do paper! --But it's been delayed.
AT THE SAME TIME, I've fallen in love with static plastic cars too--and I'm multi-tasking, working up a '32Ford roadster for the Dry Lakes, ca. ~'52, but with a rear engine; soooo, I'm scratchbuilding the chassis frame out of plastic sheet stock..."NOT the real WoodPulp thing, but an INCREDIBLE SIMULATION..." You do what you love. "It's a HOBBY, not a JOB." 'Duster EDIT:Here's what I've got in mind, just to increase the thread drift... |

"Plastic" is the "Rich man's Paper" They are way out of my pocket range, so too is card stock some weeks. But i used to build plastic models back in the day, very expensive even then. A 1:72 Scale B-52 from Monogram set me back £30 approx, and the B-36 Peacemaker by the same company {same price... i think} lord know how much they would cost to purchase now

Boy I am with you on this one Peter, I was looking around the local hobby shop last week and almost fell over when I saw the prices on some of the new models out. Were talking in the $75.00 up range. Of course that is the nicer stuff. But it was a lot of money for something I can do in paper over and over again. You can't beat paper when it comes to making a mistake and fixing it.

Hey I still build plastic just not as much any more...too dang pricey. In fact my next build is a 1/16 1970 Charger "General Lee" that i'm not building as the GL but as a Daytona roadster, Cut the roof off and scratch built the aero nose, now just a lot of filler and sanding. But one thing having trouble with is finding good wheels and tires at 1/16 scale, plenty out there for 1/24 but not much for 1/16. When i do buy plastic i get it at Hobby Lobby they put them on sale at 30% off...Rich
