Transit of Venus

Has anyone of you observed the transit of Venus today (6/6/2012)? I've had no luck. The event had already started before sunrise here in Germany, but a dense layer of clouds prevented us from seeing it. Here's a picture of the only 7 minutes the sun was visible, just after sunrise:

My part of Indonesia is mostly cloudy. No luck from my side. Same as partial Lunar Eclipse on June 4th which occur on a rainy day.

It was (almost) perfect viewing weather in Western New York. I was able to watch it from when it started here, about 6:30pm until sunset at round 8:30pm. It was very cool!

Cloudy here too, near New York City.

In line at a coffee shop, the teenage girl in front of me was scrolling the news on her iPhone. " - Transit of Venus - " she murmured.
"What's that?" her friend asked.
"Venus is passing in front of the Sun. Right now."
"Wow. - Is it gonna burn up?"
"It doesn't say."

True story.

Watched if from my home in Central Colorado. Used a Coronado PST w/Hydrogen alpha and a 120mm refractor with a thousand Oaks White light filter.

Venus was much larger than I'd expected!! Lots of Sunspots also visible... Watched until sun set below western horizon.

Very cool to watch,

i saw it it was a little dot but blinking all the time because i saw it whit the naked eye a little

That's really dangerous and stupid, you should never look at the sun with the naked eye for even a fraction of a second. You can do long term damage to your vision...

Sounds harsh? It is meant to be.....

A few photos I took yesterday. I was using my telescope to project the image of the sun onto a piece of foamcore board. The lower photo shows sunspots.

We were suppose to have cloudy skies until Tuesday evening after the sun set. However, I woke to partly cloudy skies and 40 minutes after the transit began, I captured the image here.

I began shooting at the time the transit began until sunset, making a series of images every 40 minutes. The attached image is the only one I processed. I did it to get it to the local news station in time for their 5 pm news cast. They had other shots to use, but included mine in a slideshow of the transit. You can see the slide show here.
