Interesting ... not much obvious geology in Florida. Just many, many feet of sand over sandstone over salt domes over oil deposits.

I did hard rock geology at Western State College in Gunnison, and in my current profession, I am a Cartographer, so I am all game for this

I'm not too far from you, just over the hills in Salt Lake. I guess one of the iconic things here (maybe not technically geologic), if you've never been here, is the remnant of Lake Bonneville; the shelf etched into the mountain sides from the shore line. I've actually got a few pictures on my phone I'd love to share that I've taken in American Fork canyon, one or two from Capitol Reef, and of course I have dozens from around Moab. Unfortunately, right now I'm at my wife's work getting ready for my family's party tonight, and her family's party tomorrow. I should have plenty of time to do it tomorrow.

Looks like we have some interest here, that's great. Look forward to learning about your geologic interests and questions.

Keep in mind, I'm a retired Scientific Illustrator that just happened to major in Geology. I was only a 'real' geologist for about 5 years with the US Geological Survey and switched to illustration when the job came up.

Still, once you learn the subject, it sticks with you if you have the interest. I married a Geophysicist and she still talks geology, so I've never gotten away from it.

Right now, my geophysicist need help hanging some lights, so Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night;-)

Suffice it to say, there once was a sign on the outskirts of town that said "Lava's free...make your own soap."

The one time I was in Idaho, I stopped by the side of the raod and picked up some Lava rocks for my grill. They are now in SW Florida.
