Everyone in my family shoots, and is familiar with guns. If you are going to have them in the house it is best that everyone in the house knows what a gun is and how they work. Just my opinion.
And two of mine, Corey, are: (1) If women routinely carried guns in their purses, the rate of sexual assault would plummet. (2) A gun is not some tempermental bomb that could go off any minute. All by itself, a loaded gun in your home does not pose a danger to anybody. The danger comes about only if a careless or unfamiliar person starts messing with the gun. So by all means, make sure everybody is familiar with the guns and knows how to use them. Same thing for a fire extinguisher -- people should learn how to use it long before they really need it.
