Rich, I'm also sorry to hear this sad news. Deepest condolences to you and yours.
I lost my WWII vet Dad 11 years ago myself. He was also wounded, at Seeadler Harbor, Manus, Admiralty Islands. When the USS Mount Hood expoded, he was struck by shrapnel onboard USS YMS-140, moored several hundred yards away. Much luckier than too many others that day, though. Scott K.
