The best thing in the world is when you got a problem and look and seek help when you get it and it brings you to safety.

Well, we made it to and from our event, that turned out great by te way, and we even have a ride to and from church in the morning so all is good. Thank you all. Car problems are always a bummer, but things will work out.

If there's any luck left in your bag at all, it will 'only' be a blown head gasket. Here's hoping it's no worse.

charleswlkr54, you might be better off that the jerk Wasn't DWI.
That way You can Force him to replace your car. File a Law suit against him.
Everyone knows once charged with DUI, they Slap their wrist,
set them free to do it again, and make US pay for ALL damages They cause!!

I will say my prayers for you and your family .

I had a Bravada that did that . Needed a intake mainfold gasket . All gm products with V6 get a vlave cover gasket over a certain time . I ended up putting new engine in . If you go to have it fixed skip the dealer and go to your local engine shop they are always cheaper and do better work . God bless and good luck

Youch.....
As a diver of a diesel VW this is my greatest fear. How much did it take to fix it?

Best of luck to you John.

John

Just under $600 - not as bad as it could have been - in my defence, the handles on the pumps here are normally organised petrol 91, petrol 95 diesel so we're used to grabbing the outside handle - the service station was petrol diesel petrol and had so many tags and promotional flyers tied to the pump handles they obscured the labelling on each on; add to that being in a hurry to get home after a long week away and one's on the slippery slope to a late nigh tow job...

Sorry, Edsel, I forgot to mention that that moron didn't have insurance and I had uninsured motorist, so my insurance company went after him. All I could personally have done was take him to small claims court (i wasn't injured by the way-only was doring 30mph and I am a compulsive seat and sholder belt wearer!) for 2 days lost wages. Decided it would cost me more than I could get!!

Oh, thank God! The machanic said that the water pump is shot, the housing came lose and both the pump and seals need replace. He is charging us $100 bucks labor plus parts. The new pump is only $60.00. Not sure what seals and an oil change will cost but it sure will not be the $1000s that I had thought. And a friend of mine was kind enough to help out a little with some cash as he knows our current situation regarding money. So I should have a working car before I need it for chemo next week. All is well. Thank you all.
