Truly one of the great talents of our times. Sad news.
I think Ron Howard may be the only member of the core Mayberry cast still living. Wyvern |

Yep, he will be missed.
I especially liked it when he was trying to get someone to let Barney arrest him to make Barney feel needed. He promised the guy some of Aunt Bee's sweet 'tater pie. The way he said "sweet 'tater pie" is classic.

I suspect some of you might not remember Andy's place in sci-fi history and the excellent paper model that came from it. In the 1979 series Salvage 1 he played a junkyard operator who, in the first episode, builds his own spacecraft in which he travels to the moon-- to salvage NASA leftovers, of course. While not Griffith's most memorable show, it inspired a fan named Pat York to create a website and a nifty paper model download based on the distinctive spacecraft, the Vulture.
Alas, the website was hosted on US Geocities and is no more. I still have my own copy of the file, but as far as I know, Mr. York hasn't re-posted it anywhere on the web. There was a short thread here on it with some pics in '09: Salvage Vulture 1:48

Behold! Thanks to the Internet Archives' Wayback Machine, the Vulture returns from Limbo!
Salvage 1 Vulture Paper Model (You might want to hit the "Impatient?" link if the Wayback Machine takes too long to load.) Now I'm wondering if any of our talented paper car designers are interested in Sheriff Andy Taylor's 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Mayberry patrol car... David T. Amazing, DTO. I guess nothing really does ever truly die on the Web. I've obviously paid way too little attention to the Internet Archives. I'm actually surprised they have a PDF there. Wow. Their storage must me mind bogglingly massive. I'm going to reinstate this model on my listing.
Thanks!
