Who are Reenactors

Dear List folks:
While I have been doing Birthdays I have noted in passing some of us are also into Reenacting different periods of history. As the forum is now world wide I thought it would be a fun thread if you would say what reactment groups you are with period ect. pictures an added bonus, I am going to go into the basement to find some photos of my self and cannon to post as soon as I can scan them into the computer.
Cheers,

I have also done Fur trade era stuff with my little guys, who are not so little anymore. The guys at the tomahawk throwing rang at the rendezvous her in Georgia were so great with my boys. Ever see a four year old hurl a 1/2 pound 'kiddy" tomahawk...and stick it? That's my boy! The three older boys got treated as valued members of the encampment all week. Justin, then 14, finally got over his "attitude" that weekend, and spent time taking a good ribbing from my dad and learning give as good as he got. With respect and laughs too. It was my first glimps of him as the man he would grow into. Now 19, he has my respect and friendship, not just as my wife's oldest boy but as a wonderful person in his own right. That week six years ago produced so many great memories. When I get healthy again, I want to get back into it. It's good for a family.

Sorry for the side trip, just got me thinking!

Former member of Saint Ives where I was cast member at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire, which by the way, is the Original Ren Faire. :D

During my meandering through this year's Comic Con, I may be joining Rebel Legion. (Don't know if this would count as Re-enacting).

Well, I am not really into re-enactment, but I am a member of a living history group.
We live out the life of the early times in our (dutch) peat colony in the early 1650's
So the groups main focus is the Dutch 17th century.

Another hobby of mine is being a miller on a voluntary basis, so my role in the group is the miller.

Not sure if this counts, but I've been mistaken for a reenactor many times. Every fall the wife & I work at haunted houses (the Halloween season is the best time of the year for us!). These are two of my many costumes - I have one for each side of the ACW. By just adding a zombie flesh color to my skin, you have a 150 year old scary character that chases people through the woods at night. It is a blast!

Mchale, there are actually big conventions each year where that kind of thing goes on. I like historical reenacting myself, but at those conventions people are really nice and have a lot of fun. I am always impressed by their costuming as well. I bet you can find a club or convention in your area,
