Strange eMail from Chip & google Chrome.

I got a strange eMail from Chip today.

"are you spamming us so much??

Chip
fiddlersgreen"
Don't know what it means and Chip hasn't replied yet.
I think this may be related. While downloading a word prosesser ,i noticed that it had also loaded Google Chrome and installed it with out asking permition. I kept it as a backup browers and set up a gmail accout as a backup.. Since then my HP has acted up . A I could not sign in to uTube for example.
I finally closed everything and deleated the whole batch. I think it is related to Chip's problem.
I did have Chips gmail address on in my contacts but haven't contacted him in a couple of years.
I'm just throwing this out for comments.

emails an be "from" anyone in your address book
but that doesn't mean they actually came from that person.

mail can be instructed to adopt a false persona
when it enters your account

so the first question is did the email actually come from Chip?
(you don't want to reply to it until you are confident it did)

The spam goal is to acquire valid working emails,
and this is done is by sending you something (anything) in an email,
and getting you to respond in any manner.

You might reply with "you got the wrong person"
or "this has nothing to do with me", etc
It doesn't matter what you say, you have replied
and they now have a valid email address.

And since most people just hit "reply" to repsond to emails
then they aren't checking where the reply is really going.

Sometimes (rarely) mail accounts are hijacked and used to send out spam mail.
But this usually involves large quantities of junk mail going out
which results in large quantities of returned mail and negative responses.
it also usually results in such a high traffic increase that your mail server will shut down your account.
If you honestly think your account is spamming you might want to check with your mail server first...call their support line.

Let's update this to " Chip hasn't replied at all".
I removed him from "contacts" on the chance that that was related to the "spamming".
Now Chip has blocked my access to to my file folder. The one I paid $50.00 bucks for. The one that holds a bunch my models that I haven't downloaded yet. The one that has a bunch of new models that,to be redundant, I paid for.
There doesn't seem to any way to contact him, although he did say "contact me".

Thanks, I did that too, but no responce. That used to be a good forum, but it's dying off now. More people should go there.

I have eMailed Chip but still no reply. I am still blocked from a lot of models I paid for, plus a lot of new releases.

Sort of related situation...
I get half a dozen emails every single day from an old contact.
This guy is not even in my Contact list any more.
In fact, he moved out of the country and he doesn't own a computer
and the email account probably hasn't been used in five years.

But I get this email that says "you have received a private message from [email address]" and it includes a link "Private message".
The subject is "message from [person]" and the the sender is listed as my friend's email.

However, the mail is not from my friend...its not even from the email address it shows.
And the "Private message" link will take you to a foreign junk sale site.

If Chip thinks you were sending him spam emails, it could be a similar kind of situation.
And now he has attempted to block your email address from sending any more junk.
Thats why he won't respond to your emails now, he doesn't get them.

Try creating a new email address (use your ISP, or Hotmail, or Gmail, etc)
and then send him an email explaining the problem.
