I got a rock...

For those who know the Peanuts Halloween special, you know what "I got a rock" means. For those who don't, my apologies. On the special, the kids were recounting the items recieved at each house visited on Halloween. Charlie Brown only got rocks instead of candy, apparently because of his poor costume, and kept saying "I got a rock".

My daughter and her boyfriend are at a local Arts and Crafts show. They have a street table, and are selling painted rocks they picked up at the beach. The rocks are apparently hot sellers, good for them! I love the sign they have on the table too. I made my family members laugh a couple of years ago by saying "I got a rock" after they listed a few things they had just gotten. I'll have to ask my daughter if that's why the stand is called that.

Here's a picture my wife found on Facebook of their table. I want a rock, too! (Most of the paint is my acrylics I loaned them, anyway!)

haha thats great!!
I'm glad to see the "rock" market is back again!

It seems to come in and out every 10 years or so.
I jumped in during the last rock period.
I made good money for about three years selling painted rocks,
but then it died ...that was about about a decade ago.

Heres some of my painted "rocks" from that time.

If I could visit and purchase a rock, I definitely would!
Wish them luck!

My daughter finally got to come home today (she's been at her boyfriend's home since last Tuesday. Another bit of fallout from the loss of our car). Apparently the display also included some painted drftwood, and a few of the woven bracelets she makes.

Aaron, any type in particular? She's willing to send you one.

Dave, Juan said "Pagh, airbrushes have no soul", when I told him of your work. I said "No soul, really?" I don't know about you artist types...

You tell him that an air"brush" is just that...a "brush".... a paintbrush.
Of course it has no "soul"
....isn't that part up to the artist?

So, what he is really saying is "Dave has no soul"?...hmmm

well...I think Nickelback really sucks...so there.

I had my daughter pass that on, no reply yet.

She did say though, "He's (Juan is) stupid and eighteen", to which my wife added, "Pay no attention to that man behind the bowtie".

I agree with what you say about the "soul" of the work coming from the artist myself, fwiw. Sometimes I think I'm the one with no soul (or heart), maybe that's what's wrong with my own work...
