I was never an animal person - until we got a Maltese named Millie. She was a rescue dog and was being used as a puppy mill. The vet figures she was about 5 years old when we got her and had several litters in her short life. She is the sweetest, good natured, and loving thing I have ever seen. She's pitiful with her sagging belly from all of the litters she had, but that just adds to her charm. I would not take a million dollars for her.

I now understand the loss you feel for such a loving and devoted friend. Or rather, a part of your family.

Best Regards,

I think that rescue dogs often had a hard life before we got them and really appreciate having a home and a family.

We called our Rottweiler rescue the "sticky dog" because for the first six months we could not go to another room without him following and sitting in contact with us.

I am really worried about My American Bulldog Molly. She had surgery a month ago on her ACL and took a turn fo the worse. She spent the last few days just laying on her bed. I had to coax her to get her to go out. She doesn't even want to get up to eat. I put her back on her pain meds but it hasn't seemed to gether going. Just makes me sad.

Unhappy IM Yael..

Bro Bionic:
I just lost my dear little kat, Emmy (aka The Sheepe) , of nearly 19 years, on 05 Aug. We have had her since she was 9 weeks old. I sympathize sincerely with the loss of your canine pal. Boxers always have, and will be, great dogs, IMHO
Sincerely, yer bro,
Jim

Toby was a mongrel. He was the runt of the litter, couldn't fight for the puppy food and survived by drinking the leftover milk from the family's baby's bottle. He had a rubber fetish all his life. We took him in, all 6" tall of him, and he hid under our sofa for 3 days !

He grew up with my kids, lit up our lives for 14 magic years, and gave us more love, laughs and loyalty than we could ever repay. He died of kidney failure tonight, dignified and stoic to the end. I miss him already, so I share the pain all of you feel. I'm still a bit raw at the moment, and the feeling will pass, but my memories are forever.

hancocp, Sorry to hear of your loss. My "babies" are all getting old now. They are 14,12, and 10. As you are so I shall be devastated at passing of each one. I've been through this several times and it never gets any easier. I pray that you will find comfort in your memories of Toby.

Hancop, Only a dog lover could understand. Some of my friends raise their eybrow when I tell them how much I had to spend for surgery (ACL) on Molly (american bulldog). But what are you gonna do? you can't be human and put down a 4 year old dog for something that can easily be fixed. When you take the resposibility of ownership you owe it to them to do what you can for them. she is slowly recovering and It warms my heart.

Sorry for your loss. It took us a long time toget another dog after our last one passed but this is the last one. Getting too old and too poor
