Spitfire pilot Walker dead at 99

William Walker oldest surviving spitfire pilot died, the last of some of the greatest are passing out of our lives. Here's to another one of the brave pilots who flew daily against stiff odds to promote the ideal of freedom.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Mike, and for the link to the BBC news clip, G.

I was born at the height of the Battle of Britain (September 1940). It was an event that every American kid in the 1940s and early 50s knew about. Now, 70+ years later, those heroes are disappearing. It's good to be reminded.

My aunt was in Deal,a Kent coastal town, and took these photo's during the Battle of Britain Photo's of Deal 1940 bad as the damage was without the bravery of men like Wiliam Walker it would of been far worse.
