Halo with sundogs and all
I was calmly enjoying my first cup of coffee for today, when I noticed a change in light and looked through my window... a parhelic circle! A full 22º halo with sundogs, an upper tangent arc, a sun pillar and a 46º outer parhelic circle (not in picture due to the lens angle). I have seen the occasional sundog, but I've never seen a more complete one like this before. Luckily I had my camera close by, it only lasted for two and a half minutes.
I wanted to share just a bit of my enthusiasm with you all. Hope you like it. |

I prefer anthelions to parhelions, but that is an awesome photo!

That indeed is also very awesome.
But nevertheless, for just a free spectacle in the sky this too is not bad at all. A nice way to start the day, if you ask me. |

An excellent way to start the day. In 52 years I only remember seeing two sundogs (and until you mentioned the term I didn't remember that that was what my grandfather called it when I first saw one). Congrats

Wow, that is great. Makes the couple I've seen look more like sun puppies.
