Time for a plastic model again?

I think so!

Just have this longing to make something again. Feel like the relatively quick build!

With the horrendous price of kits have decided to go 1/72. I like armour and trains so will combine the two!

Also have a 1/35 half built British Army WMIK Land Rover to finish. Much "moding" with the latter.

Will carry on paper modeling of course as well - still enjoy my paper models!

Go for it !

I game with 1/72 scale plastic & paper tanks, guns, other vehicles and buildings.
The toy soldiers are all plastic.

I have a craving for an Airfix Super Fortress {enola gay} but can't afford one. Nowt wrong with a bit of plastic, gives you a break from paper for a while and then you feel fresh to start paper models again.

Problem for me is, I love the big trucks, and they are just tooo expensive, and even if I start the ones I have, the cost of all the paint and supplies, is a bit much right now

Yeah... the days when a small can of Humbrol paint @ £0.39p are well gone - it's £1.60 a go now

Why not? Most of us started with plastic models. Just because you love steak doesn't mean you can't have chicken occasionally.

All it takes to cure such madness is to scope out the price of a new plastic model. I just cant wrap my brain around being charged upwards of $50 for a steenkin 72nd scale kit that doesn't even have resin or photoetched parts. Fortunately, I have stockpiled enough kits to keep me going for a looooonnngggg time to come (provided I don't run across the kit I'm about to finally work on eBay and find it is now a prized collector's item....I should have done so good with my investment folio).

I still buy plastic, but will say some of those prices now make me blink a time or two...and I sure don't buy duplicates of nearly everything like I used to. Just got the Revell of Germany London Routemaster bus and even holding out until I found a good sale on it was still 125 bucks. Now if I can just survive until retirement 2 years and 3 months from now (but who's counting) so I can start building some of these things.

Prices are a killer.

One plan is trade kits with the local hobby shop if you have one. They will not be interested in current stuff, but are often interested in the old discontinued stuff.

Currently have one kit to do. Others I will get via mail order - cheaper. Around 8 pounds for the kit itself.
