Liver and Onions
How many folks here like liver and onions? My father and I were discussing how much we enjoy a good meal of liver and onions much to the disgust of the other members of the family. Funny how tastes run.

I love liver and onions. But I'm the only one in my family who does, so I have to go out to get them. My wife won't even let me cook them at home, since she hates the smell so much. Thankfully, a local restaurant in Santee, Ca, Jimmy's by name, has a great liver and onions dish.

I grew up eating them occasionally, never thought it was disgusting at all.
Haven't had any for a long time, don't know why.

Not a huge fan of beef liver, as it was always tough the way my mom cooked it, but I do like chicken livers with rice.

The wife cooks Liver and Bacon (Bestest Gravy there is) around every two weeks, but I've not tried it with onions. They can only improve the gravy even more methinks. I'll have to drop the hint next time I see liver in the offing.
We also regularly eat lamb kindney, hearts, and occasionally brains. No, we are not Welsh ... but we do live here. Got genuine buffalo steaks tonight though, 'cos it's me birthday. There's a farm just down the way that rears North American Bison. Not cheap, but they're delicious. Johnny. |

Tend to lean more vegetarian, but occasionally get the urge for liver and onions. One of those things I hated as a kid, but forced myself to learn to eat it. Now I use it as a taste at a new restaurant if they offer it. If they can get it good they should be able to do everything fairly well.
Agree with Garland about Jimmy's. Ate there a couple of years ago when I was over in Vista for a show at the Steam and Ag Museum. |

I enjoy having Fried Chicken Livers and Onion Rings, not sure if this a regional thing or not. Add a little Tobasco Sauce and it does not get much better.

Wouldn't eat it on a bet, I used to have to eat it once in a while when I was a kid - I'd cut it up in very small pieces, drown it in ketchup, and swallow it. It was nasty then and it is nasty now.....lol
