DC-3 Pirated?

Hi All,

Don't know if this is where this should go, but just checking Ebay and came across the DC-3. Picture and model look very familiar. Is this the Alan Rose download on this site done by Rubén and pirated? If so what can be done about this?

Pirated. I think even down to the picture they use.

Its a printed model...states clearly you get 31 printed pages.
So you are paying for Ink and Paper and the trouble to print it out.

Would be nice if the original model/designer/etc was credited
but because this is a freely available model
this eBay listing is not technically a pirated model being sold.

I don't agree with this practice, but its a little different than the usual "piracy" we are concerned with.

...
I'd like to know the quality of the paper and printing, because at $15 with free shipping
the 25 page Black Pearl model is a steal!

Assuming the person didn't alter the original PDF to erase the copyright notice
and the name of the author from each page (which by the way is a very long
and tedious process - and that's exactly why I designed the layout as it is-)
Alan Rose must still be credited in the printed pages, as well as the references
to papermodelers.com

But...
This is what I find weird:

That's very unusual.

I agree, it may be printed in Turkey, but they come across as if the model was an original from Turkey.

I would never have known this was an Alan Rose original redone by Rubén on Papermodeler's if I had not gotten interested in paper models and joined this forum.

Airdave, that Black Pearl, is that uhu02's model? Sure looks like it.

That "Made in Turkey" thing is just part of the eBay listing information.
English being a second language for this guy makes it worse.
According to his profile, he is in Turkey.
You can fill the listings out with all kinds of wrong info, and a lot of that is eBay's fault.
It can get very confusing doing a listing now.

I emailed the guy...not sure if it will do any good.
Not even sure if he will understand.

I suggested he must credit the original owner and designer of the file
and state (in his listings) where he got the file for free.

I like the fact that he is clear about shipping printed pages, which I thought
made it a legit sale...but the lack of credit to the file sources is definitely wrong.

But now...to be honest, it is making me rethink my stance.
At first I thought "if someone downloaded one of my Koolwheelz models
and then printed it...and then listed the printed page on eBay
...I would not complain. They are selling the ink, paper, and printing.
But then I realized it defeats the purpose of why I distribute the Koolwheelz models.
I want people to come to my site and get them from me.
So, an ebay sale would violate the rule I put on my model: do not redistribute in any manner.

I am now on the fence about this one.
And I am leaning towards the "remove this listing" side.

...
The Black Pearl model is either Uhu's or the Disney one.
Both, of course, free downloadable models...only the Disney one is still available
from the original source. (But I'm not questioning where/when he got the files,
thats a whole other issue, so not part of this discussion at the moment.)

i will admit i surf through afew of these"pirate"sites from time to time.you would be amazed<or mayby not>how many of the models that originate from this site end up on them.I will admit i have downloaded the odd freebie from commercial makers on these sites but i have never bought one from the pirate sites that sell them.Does that make me good, bad or hypercritical im not sure.I certainly would never upload any model onto them

If the seller only sends the 31 pages of parts, then the buyer
is left without the 40-pages instructions and history file.
He'll have to look somewhere for it, and will probably follow
the url on the pages and get here.
