There is a member here, ngwrsd, who posts his aluminum can builds on the forum. Look up his posts and you can see how he builds them in some cases. Fascinating stuff really.

I actually love Sanderson's work. It is museum quality and he most likely puts thousands of hours of work into each of his models. If he chose to sell them he would never ever recoup the amount of work he put into each one. But he doesn't do it for that-its about creating something new and unique that very few people can or have the patience to do. It's about doing something that you are passionate about and love doing....

I was contacted by a guy named Jim Tescar long ago after I had designed the USS Enterprise. He wanted to use my design to develop a model made from Aluminum. Of course I sent him everything I had and in appreciation, he sent me the plans he developed. He simplified a few things, but I think it looks fantastic.
Best Regards,

Jim is a good guy and his website was an inspiration for many of us who began to experiment with the craft years ago. I personally built several of his models many years ago when I first began working with can modeling and his plans enabled me to understand what I needed to do to take my craft to the next level....
