All kidding aside, it's probable the only way to pay for the trip, average taxpayer doesn't care if we go or not so it would be VERRRRY hard to get them to pay for it. The US was a different country when Apollo went to the Moon, people now days just don't get it..........Rich

exactly. that was my original point. If NASA or the Americans aren't going to get it done, then I guess its up to this Dutch group. Just to correct...in the first post, I listed the Wiki source of info for Mars One. However I accidentally posted a link to the Inspiration Mars info and not to the Mars One info page. here is the mars One Wikipedia entry: Mars One - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Inspiration Mars project made me laugh. The whole point is to put a couple...a man and a woman...into space for 500 days. They are to trayel to, orbit, and return home from Mars. I think its blatantly obvious that it is another merchandise and advertising gimmick. Imagine the sponsorship opportunities, especially if its a reality TV show. But I think the most obvious choreographed element is the "couple". Sex in space...with the ultimate goal being the first child born in Space. This has so little to do with Space exploration and so much to do with lubricant and diapers.
