The Movies

I just saw two outstanding movies on my TV.
ENDER'S GAME
ENDER'S GAME -- Trailer - YouTube
GRAVITY
GRAVITY Extended Trailer - YouTube
Then there is always,
Oblivion
Oblivion - Official Trailer (HD) - YouTube
which has been out for a while. It also helps to have a good sound system. wc

what did you think? outstanding?

I really really really do not like Tom Cruise...but I thought Oblivion was outstanding.
A top notch Sci Fi film.

Gravity did not live up to any of the hype (for me).
In fact I found it to be ridiculously farfetched and unbelievable.

Enders Game was....well, to be honest, I'm not sure.
Maybe its the fact that its all kids.
It seems like its written for kids too.
And that big nose kid was just a little punk
...not sure why we are supposed to believe anyone would listen to him.

And Ben Kingsley couldn't decide if he was English, Aussie or a New Zealander. lol

lol the visuals were pretty good though.

...
For those who are interested in the Academy Award nominees:
She...Her...Siri on Steroids...or whatever its called...was ridiculous.
Saving Mrs Banks ...is a wonderful slice of Disney and British history, muddled by the boring Colin Farrell flashback scenes.
American Hustle is not funny or exciting, it is confusing, boring and the fake accents are annoying. (in my opinion)
Captain Phillips is riveting and powerful. I don't know if its Best Picture worthy, but it beats the rest of the nominees I have seen to a pulp.

I haven't watched Wolf of Wall Street yet...or the other 3...4? pictures.

...
I watched Reach for the Sky the other night.
The story of Douglas Bader.
Terribly old, so dated, and technically awful.
The worst special effects since The Flying Tigers with John Wayne.
...and yet, absolutely marvelous!!

I though Oblivion was pretty good even with Tom Cruise. Haven't seen Gravity yet.
Just saw Ender's Game a couple of weeks ago. Pretty good. Other then basic idea don't remember how well it followed the book since I haven't read it since it first came out. Remember that I liked t and it did clean up most of the SF book awards that year. Only thing why do most of the baddy aliens tend to be bugs or squids?

Just saw Ender's Game. I thought they followed the book fairly well. Maybe someday one of our designers can try their hand at the capitol ships.
