On a Mac a program named "Bootcamp" gives you the opportunity to devide your harddisk in a Mac partition and a Windows partition , it only workes on Macs with a Intel-processor. At start-up you can choose if you want it to run as a Mac or a Windows computer, it should work for all the soft-ware available for Windows..also the program Gremir uses to view and print the models

Note from the software sales goon
Parallels runs just about anything that doesn't require special graphics card hardware (which cuts out games and CAD-Software like Maya, AutoCAD, 3DS MAX etc.) If DataViewer doesn't use 3D Acceleration or a special graphics driver you should be just fine. |

Thank you everybody for your help.
Bottom line is that if you can run Windows on your Mac, then you will be able to install and register DataViewer.

If you have a Intell processor, and you are running Os 10.5,on a Mac, Bootcamp is already installed in the assistent-programs, you only need a copy of Windows XP or Vista to install
Apple - Mac OS X Leopard - Features - Boot Camp And there are places where you can get Bootcamp, it's freewhare. just Google Bootcamp... Last edited by billy.leliveld; 03-25-2009 at 04:25 PM. |

You could try CodeWeavers CROSSOVER for Mac. It is not an emulator. does not require the Windows OS, but lets you run Windows programs on your Mac. It's not perfect, does not do everything, but I have run some Windows programs on my Mac without any sort of Windows operating software (it's fascinating). There's a free trail version. So, for only the cost of a GreMir model, you could try out this alternative. if it doesn't work, you're only out the cost of the model, not the cost of Windows OS. CodeWeavers I would love them to find a better middle ground as they've got some fine models. HOWEVER, GreMir, I'm sure, has a lot of time and money invested in the system they use, it works, and it is probably not viable from an economic standpoint for them to retroactively change the system. Also the time and expense of finding another system that is acceptable to them (and works for everyone) is no easy task. |

jagolden01,
Can you check if CodeVeawers will let you run DataViewer? I have a test model uploaded here http://www.gremirmodels.com/Downloads/Test/Test.zip BTW, With GreMir, nobody is ever "out the cost of the model" - if you cannot register it, I will issue a refund for full purchase price.

I tried CodeWeavers and even though it said it would run on my iMac
system 10.4.11 Tiger it wouldn't let me download to try it. Said I need 10.5 or above. I won't do that because I need to run a couple of good system 9 programs which my guru says I can't do with 10.5 or higher. S.O.L. I guess. |
