Sincere condolences to you and your family. My birth father passed in 1997, and although we weren't close, I felt the loss. My foster dad is still alive (82 y/o) so I also am lucky enough to have a close relationship with him. Those of you who still have your dad (or mom), cherish your time with them.

My condolences and prayers for you and your family. Lost my dad back in 89. We had been separated for 38 years after my mother divorced him. I had one year to get know him but I understand your loss.

Sad to learn about your father, Doug. It sounds as if he was pretty special. Prayers for you and all who loved him.

Dear Doug,

Just today I saw your thread, and I imagined your pain. My parents are still alive, but are elderly and in poor health, and so I know that soon I'll pass a pain similar to yours. . .
Your review about talking of our love for parents while they are alive is the truth, and I think that should be a constant in our lives. Thanks for reminding us that.
I commend our colleagues modelers, many of them praying for you and your family. This is an expression of great consideration for the bereaved.
At such times also I think of very common questions like: "Why do people die?" and "Is there any hope for those who have died?" I'm glad to say that there is a good hope for this.

I was also very close to my father. I tell my grandchildren and grand nephews and nieces stories about things we did together; things he did for me; things he taught me. It is not quite the same, but it helps. And maybe another generation will remember him. God bless.
