I was a 17 y/o Seaman Recruit in Orlando FL going through Navy "Boot" Camp. I remember sneaking to the roof of our building to look at the moon and marvel at the thought that there were humans walking around way up there. Still gives me goosebumps.

On the afternoon of July 20, 1969 I was in Oaks, Pennsylvania watching the TV coverage of the Lunar Landing of Apollo 11.
Later that night I watched Neil Armstrong take the first step on the Moon.

It has to be true, I sawr it on the TV.

I was in Ithaca, NY and like everyone else, glued to the TV that day and night.

I was in Kenya.

And a teenager!

Though I saw the landing as a recording later on TV (in black and white of course), I listened to the landing and walk live on the radio, and remember it being very dramatic!

I sat at home with university friends all night up till the astronauts stepped out at 03.00 hrs in the middle of the night, local Dutch time, eating sandwiches and drinking beer. Even my Mum joined us for that historic moment.

I was 2 & 3/4's years old. I don't remember what I was doing. But I remember my Mother telling me that if it had been faked, it wouldn't have been so boring watching nothing happening for hours on end and Walter Cronkite trying to fill time.

My uncle sent us tons of pictures he took from the live TV feed.

I still have them.
