Wanted: Roman Baths
Thomas Davies Clay recently sent me pictures of a model of the Roman baths in Bath, England. Long since sold out in the museum in Bath. I would dearly love to make a very limited reprint available (10 to 25 copies max). I have traced and contacted the designer, but without result. Does anyone have a copy in his collection? If so, please contact me?
It was published in 1970, and has a very unusual size: 64 x 54 cms... |

Forgot to add: the designer has just one copy, does not object to the idea of a reproduction, but does not want to risk the mail. Scanning is impractical or very expensive due to the size of the kit: 9 sheets of 64x45 cms. No standard A3 or A4 sizes in those days...

Glad to inform everybody that I have found a copy - later on, when the first preparations have been completed, I will be able to give an estimated price. In the meantime, I would be grateful if people who are interested in buying this unique model would mail me or send me a pm?

Am very interested in the reprint. Did you go ahead with this project? Are there any left if you did? Looking forward to your reply.

Yes, we are going ahead just after the holidays. Tom Greensfelder (member of this forum) has a copy, and has offered to do the scanning and scaling down ( the original size being totally impractical for reproduction).
Designer John Ronayne (London) has given his explicit permission for our project. I am aiming at a first run of -hopefully- some 25 copies, but this will depend on the number of reactions I get. So please mail or pm me. I will keep you informehere, and of course via my site zeistbouwplaten.nl, and also via my Virtual Museum on https://www.flickr.com/photos/zeist_bouwplaten/ If anyone can help by organising more publicity, please do so. Believe me: 25 copies seems very little, but there is virtually no market for highly unusual models like these... |
