RIP Peter Zorn
Peter A. Zorn Jr. 1939 - 2017 Dear friends of www.papermodelers.com It is with great sorrow that I must inform you of this very sad news. Our modeller friend and loved designer Peter Zorn died on the night of January 1st. His wife sent me an email which for some reason arrived late to my inbox. I just read it. Of it I can share the following words: Quote:
senior associate designer at TGAdesign in Florida, where he lived with his family. Not only was he a designer, but he also was a prolific text author, and even an award-winning screenwriter. We remember him for his famous series of paper model kit books that were cleverly designed with nice details, and easy to build that appeared in the early 1980s. Although I never met him personally, we exchanged mails several times and I could feel he was a great person, always with a curious spirit, and he was no doubt a man who cared for the others and who loved his family deeply. He loved modelling, and he never stopped building until the end. He had several ongoing projects in his table. I had the honor of working with him and with Billy on the digital restoration of his kit of the Ford Trimotor. That memory and a few others I cherish and keep in my heart. ( Re-colouring the Ford Trimotor by Peter Zorn ) My thoughts go to his wife Kathleen. My sincere condolences to all the people who loved him. We have lost a great fellow member. And I lost a friend. Rest in peace, Peter. And thanks for everything!

This is indeed sad news, I was able to meet Peter when he attended the IPMC, I believe back in 2003, he was very personable, and approachable, a great story teller.
the world is better for him having contributed his talents and shared them with us Rick

My very first introduction to card modeling was SPAD XIII / SPAD VII booklet, copyright 1982 by Mr Zorn. Still unbuilt but in a place of honor among my WWI books.
RIP. A sad day. --jeff |
