Page Fault in NonPaged Area
I had installed a couple of programs from GOTD earlier this week then decided one was a POS so I uninstalled it (ScreenCamera).
The next day when booting up the BSOD showed up with Page Fault in NonPaged Area. Did some checking and decided to try a restore point to before that ScreenCamera was installed. Worked one time but got that same BSOD the next time the machine was started. Did some more checking and found the machine would boot in Safe Mode with Networking. System Repair would not work. Found out that it might be a driver problem so tried to find the faulty driver but could not. Was going to take the tower to a computer repair shop but decided to try a restore point to before that other GOTD program was installed (Ashampoo 17 disk burning program). It worked. Now everything is hunky-dory. Saved myself a few copper pennies but lost some karma and hair.

The problem is "bundled" software.
Many sites that offer free programs get you this way. Free programs have other programs bundled within them, that can self install when you install. Browser Search Bars and Home page redirects are common. Or, you will see permission screens for various other items during the installation process. Other programs that are trial software. Some can be very malicious and difficult to uninstall. I stopped downloading programs from cnet...even though many people directed me there. Many of their free programs are out of date versions, and many have bundled components attached to them. I wouldn't touch anything from GAOTD. Odds are, you may have downloaded and installed more than you bargained for. Restore points can help make things seem like they have been restored, but sometimes they have not. The malicious components may still be in your system. Time to do a full scan with Anti-Virus and Malware programs. And make sure you don't have anything bad. Next, check for newly active Processes and Startups. C-Cleaner is a great utility to keep tabs on this stuff. Also, check out McAfee Stingers each month. They are updated regularly, and deal mostly with current threats of importance. You just download and run, then discard them, they are very simple to use. Stinger | McAfee Free Tools

It turned out it was not a software problem. The hard drive was failing.
Everything was working fine for a few months then the morning of March 30 it just would not boot up no matter how many restore points I went back to. Took it to the repair shop where they replaced the hard drive and then wanted to install Windows 10. I told them to install Windows 7 so I could restore my system using a system image from the backup made the evening of March 29. It only took around two and a half hours to restore using the system image. Now everything is hunky-dunky. Good thing I do a backup each evening. I also noticed that the portable hard drive I back up to was running out of space. Did some digging deleted some old backups and system images. Now there is lotsa space on the drive.
