100 #11 Swann-Morton scalpel blades, one #3 holder and a used blade remover box on their way from Hobby Tools Australia.
$43 including express post. Will be an interesting comparison. I'll let you know how they go.

Good luck should be better. I prefer to use 10A blades, a bit stronger with a shorter steeper angled edge

My new SWANN-MORTON blades and holder arrived this morning.
The box contains 20 sachets of 5 blades. Handy, safe and easy to keep tabs on. Firstly, Thank you HOBBY TOOL AUSTRALIA for packing and sending on the same day as ordering, Brilliant service. Secondly, Thank you AUSTRALIA POST for delivering across Bass Strait and into Hobart overnight. Superb service. The look and feel of the scalpel handle and blades is spot on. 1st blade fitted and time to test drive. I attacked a piece of 0.5mm card, it soon became apparent that much less pressure was needed to make the same cuts compared to the Excel blades. They cut so easily and cleanly. They are beautiful to drive but I'll have to get used to the flat handle as I have been using a round one for about half a century. Next I pulled out the piece of 2mm card that ruined 2 excel blades making a 24"cut and left the thin strip I cut off, torn and distorted. Well I cut a thin strip off and then another. In total I cut 39" of 2mm card, the strips were not torn and not distorted. The blade still seemed sharp so I returned to the original 0.5mm card and tested it. Whilst it was not as sharp as it was, it was still sharp enough to cleanly cut the 0.5mm with ease and does not need throwing out. My test speaks for itself. Thank you SWANN AND MORTON for a fine product. And thanks Tim and Gary for putting me onto them. Clive.

Interesting... good to know!
Does anybody make an X-acto #11 type handle for scalpel blades?? That would seem to be the best of both worlds... Later! OL J R

Mr Strawwalker, Fitting excel holder blades they do.
Flexible too much they are with too far out sticking. If shortened better are blades they are. With Swann-Morton handle practicing I am. Liking already it. Cloda.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: go for (Swann Morton) scalpels, and / or buy a cheap whetstone.
