What needs to be done is put in place a rule and requirement that all of the boats in the competition be built exactly the same with no deviations from the plans or materials used in the construction. Have an international jury to approve the plans so that a boat won't be required that excessively favours the Cup holder location; and inspect the boats during all phases of construction and inspect the boats during all phases of competition to insure no changes are made.

That way the best sailors will be the reason a team wins, not because a team has some new technology that is just within the rules but that no one else has thus giving them an advantage due to technology. May the best sailors win.

It would also be great if they could find some island to race around, you know, like the Isle of Wight. Maybe then they won't change the mark location when the challenger is so far ahead of the defender that the result is inevitable.

i am all in favour of last coments.standard boats with NO modifications unless they are fitted to all boats.we have a few islands off the coast of auckland to keep them happy as we did last time.oh wait we won that one too.should be down to the skill of the sailors first of all.

It looks like some official information was just announced.

The 36th America's Cup will be in Auckland, early 2021. There will also be nationality and boat "construction in country" requirements.

The full 36th AC Protocol will be announced in September 2017.

i think auckland was a forgone conclusion as no where else in nz has the facilities to host it.most of auckland viaduct harbour was built up for last time nz held it.please can we have a rail link to the airport????
