AC35 - Bermuda
America's Cup 35 - Bermuda
Anyone else been watching those yacht races? Those are some fast boats. Some of the races had a wind speed of around 13 knots with the boats going around 39 knots on the down wind legs. Looks like New Zealand will be in the Challenger's final.

Four years ago I tried to reproduce those boats, but as many others projects I didn't finished it.
I love this kind of boats and I love their races. May be this would be the time I will be motivated to restart this work. Best, Nando Ps: sorry not NZ

The big question now is in what ways NZ will change the rules for the 36th Cup — whoever holds the Cup gets to make the rules. Back in January, NZ was the only team not to sign a framework agreement for the next Cup. This means we're in for some big changes.
I've kept an eye on hints NZ has given so far. They'll no doubt change the nationality requirements, and the current need for grinders (cyclists in NZ's case) to constantly provide hydraulic fluid pressure for wing & foil operation. Beyond that, will changes made for the 34th and 35th Cups be kept (wing-sail catamarans, multiple-venue "world series" races, and an independent AC management team?) Luna Rossa, the 36th Cup Challenger of Record, favors monohulls — but NZ does want to have the excitement level of the 34th and 35th Cups. Will the new AC boat design be a catamaran, or a catamaran with a cloth sail? Maybe a monohull with a wingsail (or a fabric wingsail/soft wing?) Maybe it's time for a foiling monohull (like the Quant 23 — the YouTube videos of it are a sight to see!) I guess we'll all find out in the months to come.
