Helicopter id help

They were working on this and not enough for me to identify other then I tam pretty sure its a helicopter. Little help from you aircraft people please. Thank you!

Thank you, I was thinking that might be what it actually was. But wasn't sure, guess with the wing off I'm seeing bits I didn't recognize.

It seems to be a retired CalFire spotter aircraft, being renovated

I was pretty sure those were CalFire markings and since this was at the Palm Springs Air Museum that would make sense. The air intake on the roof was throwing me really off, since I don't think I've ever noticed it with the wing on. One of the disadvantages of being short. I tried to find something on Google for FD planes, but just was getting all the Disney junk.
