I have noticed it on other sites as well, a couple of days of the placeholder image, extension adapts, can view the images normally.

maybe once a month for me, I guess they are actively battling one and other to gain whatever advantage over the other.

Heres another funny thing...

when the photobucket changes first occurred, I started downloading the photo albums I have created over the last 10 years.
I have about 70 albums, with somewhere around 6500 photos I think.

I was able to download about a third of my albums over a few weeks, before I started running into issues.
Errors kept occurring during the process of clicking things and going through the steps of downloading an album.

It got to the point where no downloads would work anymore...
and I sent a couple of messages to photobucket asking for help.

Only response I got was that they were working on the problem
and that I could download photos individually from any album.

I actually started doing this...its time consuming, but I needed the photos to keep working on updating all my links at different sites.
After working out a method, I got into a rhythm, and actually downloaded half a dozen albums.

I haven't worked on image updates for a while, but today I thought about it...
and I went to photobucket to see if I could download some more albums.
To see if they had fixed the downloading issue?

oh they fixed it alright!

The option of downloading an album is completely gone! lol
Options to "upload" "delete" and "move" an album are there.
But downloading has apparently become a problem for photobucket...
maybe completely overloaded their system? LOL
And downloading an entire album of your own photos is now not an option.

Anyway, you can still download (right click and save) any image you have there.
But if you're like me, it may take a while to collect all your photos.

I guess I did right by requesting the complete download that was offered when this change of rules first happened. It took them a week to comply (I probably wasn't the only one to request this.) but it did eventually arrive. My library of prints is still there on PB though, should I wish to see it, but 3rd party hosting is no longer an option.

They've been trying hard to attract customers buy means of several offers lately.
I don't think the damage can be restored so easily.

While I look for other options to upload images, I've been thinking on uploading this image (or some custom version of it):

Several million times just to fill the storage quota of my account.

They will have to store it right? It will use up space in their servers.

I know in the big scheme of things, 2GB of space with copies of the same image won't change things a bit, but it would be more of a personal little vengeance.

You pay for the data transfer, so is 2gb upload worth it?

And would they even know about it?
You might be wasting time and effort for little effect.

I pay a fixed monthly amount of money (not much) for the internet service whether I use it or not, so it wouldn't add a cent to the bill.

But time and effort... yes. Right in that.

I trust the bulk upload option to help me with that and make it all with just a couple of clicks

Not sure if anyone else is as forgetful as me, but some might appreciate this info...

I just noticed that my photobucket account is set to renew my subscription in April
and automatically take payment from my paypal account.

Many things have changed (at photobucket) within the User controls.
Its really hard to find certain things now.
Photobucket seems to be playing a sneaky game with all its disgruntled users.

For example, there are no controls or information regarding your subscription, payment methods, etc.
Now, just a text line suggesting you email photobucket if you wish to make any changes to your subscription and its payments.

So, I emailed them about this...

and I also checked my Paypal account.
You can manage preapproved payment services and recurring subscriptions.
Sure enough, I have a full list of the yearly renewals at photobucket
and the still active preapproved contract with photobucket to automatically take payment.

I have, of course, disabled this within paypal.

So, even if photobucket does not get back to me...the subscription should not renew in April.

I suggest anyone who ever paid photobucket, check your paypal account for recurring payments.
Credit card companies offer this same process, so if you used a credit card at photobucket,
make sure it is not still active within your photobucket account.

Old thread, but this adds to the topic discussion:

Photobucket is sending mails to participate in a survey about their service.

They ask several questions related to photo hosting and sharing as compared to another service.

If you take the survey, make sure to mark the first question carefully, as it differenciates between "photo hosting" service and "sharing" (embedding) service.

Some questions allow to leave comments.

I'm not sure how useful it will be now. But at least I left my opinion.
