This whole last season has seemed like they were just going through the motions. Very disappointing. Maybe the finale pulled it all together, but I was not able to catch it (doing things with my folks), only Comcast or BBCAmerica didn't put it up on OnDemand. Tried to go to BBCAmerica.com to watch online, only I only got error messages.

Surely, they will rebroadcast it sometime, but until then, my interest in Doctor Who is considerably diminished

As long as the writing is good I'm giving her a chance. I'm definitely excited to see what the new showrunners will come up with storywise. Anyway, if she does not succeed, she may transform into Doc #14 anytime (after she broke her neck running away from the Daleks in high heels :D ). Maybe with red hair this time?

David Morrisey would have made a good Doctor...he went on to be the evil Governor in The Walking Dead though.

I would have liked to see Matt Smith come back.
And I think it might have made more sense...based on the whole 12-13 regenerations already used up problem.
I can imagine all kinds of story arcs to bring him back.

For me, Capaldi never became likeable.
Always scowling and angry...too disagreeable.
Clara tried and tried, but...

oh Clara....how can you have anything negative to say about Clara?
Heaven to look at.

I think the problem is the male Doctor to female companion dynamic.
Its always been the basis of the Doctor Who stories.
No matter how sexist or dated that is, that is what its always been for a Doctor Who fan.
The Doctor has always been in charge.
If we see male companions, they are either gonna be weak and sissy
or they will be constantly competing for control.
And a male companion chasing after and flirting with the new Doctor is just gonna be creepy.
It'll be like Capt Jack all over again! LOL
Or, are we gonna explore the lesbian thing even more?
See...its just getting weirder now.

The Doctor has had male companions since the very first episode.
And until the 8th Doctor Movie, there was never a romantic link between the doctor and any of his companions.
And even Matt Smith's Doctor expressed disappointment when he realized he wasn't a girl despite the long hair. So this has been in the works since then at least.
I'm looking forward to seeing where this new Doctor takes the story.

Dear Friends:
I am showing my age I still like Tom Baker and the scarf. Being a historian I like the scripts where it is back in history loved the Victorian werewolf one
I am in the camp of weight and see good scripts who care what the doctor looks like, 16 year old daughter is going yes, yes, yes
Enjoy,
Miles

You can come up with all the reasoning and excuses and scenarios you like but at the end of the day it is wrong, the Dr is a male.
Strax will put her in her place.
I think switching to a sheila Dr may be a ruse and a way to disguise the story lines of a writer with a lesser Whovian mindset, after all, Steve Moffat is Dr Who.
So, if the stories are crap and Jodie is crap, "Who" cares, once again the Daleks will reign supreme.

I still can't believe they keep casting humans to play the doctor.

Can you believe it? A human a doctor?

That's utterly outrageous.

Making the same mistake for over 50 years.

Are we a little threatened by strong women?
This isn't the first time the DR. has been a woman.

I, for one, think it's great.
