Saw Dunkirk earlier tonight, great movie on so many level, just few minutes into the Film and the Stukas already gave me goosebumps.

i really appreciate the use of real Mark I Spitfires (2001 Dark blue world used real Spits but some are Mk.IXs), if you look closely on some ground shots they even have correct black and white undersides

Funny they still use Buchons as Emil stand-ins, while Flying heritage still have airworthy one, as a homage to earlier films perhaps. I see they also still use CASA 111.2 as heinkel stand-in (?). spotted some model Blenheim and 110 as well i think

Now if only Christopher Nolan would make a movie adaptation of Deighton's Bomber while we still have airworthy Lancs available, looking at how Dunkirk turns out, i will confidently think that would be a great film (with mr. Nolan's habit of duct taping cameras on aircrafts and (space) ship hulls)

Thumbs up Just watched it

Just saw the movie Dunkirk. A very intense war movie done superbly. Watched it in wide screen 70 mm format. The movie house here in Toronto was packed.

Just like the movie Titanic , we know the ending.

Here , young men die needlessly because mad men decided they want to rule the world, and everyone is a hero!

Just returned from seeing it. No criticisms from this end. I thought it was superbly done. Even in the case of the Buchons, they seemed to use camera angles and distances that minimized the appearance of the Rolls-Royce engines.

I refrain from any comment on the larger issues of the Second World War.

Dunkirk was a masterpiece of filmmaking (I thought).
Saw it in Imax 70mmm...yes, I call it mmmm
The camera work made me feel like I was right in the action.
And the Imax size didn't hurt either!

Loved it as much as I love Battle of Britain.
I love all Nolan's films.
I would love to see his version of BofB.

For a bit more info on the aircraft and how they were filmed:

The Yak52 camera plane, for Spitfire cockpit shots, is amazing.

The Heinkels and Stukas are top notch RC model miniatures.

Cblf49 - everyone should watch this video ! There's war and its effects right infront of you. One of my hobbies is wargaming, I may be moving card tokens or painted figures around, but you never forget that they represent people - I can pack my toys away when finished, that man is carrying all those thoughts and memories around with him all the time! I salute him, as we all should.
