No, in Prometheus an Engineer used his DNA to start life on earth, they could seed the earth with their home plants too. Wheat may not be part of Engineer diet but they surely can bring that with them. They don't have to actually show that the Engineer planning the seeds. The point is to connect two planets, both are very much alike because the Engineer (God) made it so.

And that is the home planet of Engineer or it should be based on Prometheus. In Prometheus Shaw and David programmed the ship to return 'home', Engineer's planet. That also brings up that the Engineer is so advance but their city show no resembling of their spaceship and it is such a small city and almost primitive too. That's more screwed up from Ridley. I was hoping at least in the 'cut scene' we will see some connection in the big hole 'hanger base' but no, Ridley didn't bring it.

Engineer's planet was behind a much bigger uninhabitable planet, so human never bother to look there. They already said that in the movie. So they find Engineer's planet only because of the transmission is acceptable. What Ridley didn't bother to explain was why David killed Shaw, because David needs Shaw as a host for his Alien? Did David kill Shaw before they arrived and that is why only we only see David on board dropping the virus? See, Ridley really screwed it up.

The "indigenous race" on that planet is wiped out by David releasing the pathogen.
Thats what I read.
But the city, buildings and rooms didn't look like the home of a big and tall race.
At least not to me.
I think this is just a mistake on Ridley Scott's part, because this supposedly is the Engineers home world.

If you haven't seen the Covenant Prequel, it is here:
Alien: Covenant - Prologue: The Crossing - IGN Video

On the journey, Shaw fixed up David and the pair formed an emotional bond.
Once Elizabeth went into cryosleep for the long trip, David – now free with the death of Weyland – was left alone
and began to learn about how the Engineers work.
By the time he arrived on their planet, he’d decreed them a failure and instigated a mass extermination,
dropping thousands of pods of the black goo pathogen over the central citadel
and littering the planet with pods of black spores.
Somehow his ship crashed and he began experimenting further with their tech to create a refined version.
Once he’d exhausted his options there, David then turned his eye to getting off the planet,
setting up Shaw’s recognizably human Country Roads cover as a distress beacon.

When alone on the planet, David begins to probe the possibilities of the pathogen,
experimenting on the surviving Engineers and Shaw.
He endeavors to perfect the process, breeding the pods a la Mendelian inheritance
until he reaches his perfect organism: the movie’s protomorph, a nearly-finished xenomorph.
He develops the eggs and facehugger, needing just a host to birth his creation
– and he gets just that when the Covenant arrives, using Captain Oram as the protomorph’s “mother.”

Now...explain to me how Predator visits Los Angeles in 1989, with a trophy skull of an Alien
if David hasn't created the Xenomorph until more than a hundred years later?

gotham, two kinds of people watch a movie, the first kind watched the movie and go home, nothing happens. The second kind watched the movie and their brain cells got stimulated and want to analyze the movie. Besides, somebody (Ridley) screwed up a couple of my favorite films so I need to gripe. Oh, Shin Godzilla sux too, now I am really mad.

airdave, now you see! Ridley not following the program (past films) and decided to have David create this Alien.

wrong...Ridley followed his own story.
This is where I am unsure if you are joking with me or serious.

There is only ONE film for Ridley Scott to connect to...Alien.
Thats what I have been trying to say.
All the other Alien and Predator related movies have absolutely nothing to do with Alien or Scott's story.

The people who made the other films screwed up the Alien storyline.

So the original Alien film still stands.
It happens in the future, well after Prometheus and Covenant.

Once again, this shows why there should'nt be sequels, prequels, or whatever - look at Star Wars, it's messed up too. At least with Star Trek they created a new timeline altogether for the new films. Sequels, prequels , or whatever are just film companies making money - a film is just a product to make money from, they don't care about consistency or quality, only getting bums on seats.

Actually that is an excellent point.
Its one of the things I liked about the new Star Trek series...
the fact that they went with the alternate timeline, allowing a different series of events to happen.

And its another reason why I am not a big Star Wars fan.
The way Lucas has built his "empire" on money and not on love for the subject.
First he makes two sequels because of the success of the first film.
Then, he repackages the first films, multiple times, just to sell more copies.
Then he makes three more pathetic sequels...just to make more box office revenue.
Lets not forget 40 years of merchandising.
Then, when he runs out of ways to make money from it, he sells the whole lot to Disney for 100 Gazillion dollars.
Caring more about the money, than what someone else will do with his "empire".

LOL sorry, what were we talking about?

Oh yeah...sequels.
Did you know there were 31 Carry On films?!

At least some / most of those films (Carry On) were funny. I love in 'Cleopatra' they have the 'British' wearing furs and living in caves ! 🤔

THAT has never been shown. It is a common misinterpretatin of the first scene in which we see one of the Engineers disintegrate after consuming the black goo. However, there has never been a plate or so saying the planet was Earth or when the scene happened. It could be a completely different planet, set in the movies present. We just don't know.

After Alien3 I'm looking at remainig ones as separate on-their-own films, maybe loosely based on Alien.Problem solved.

IMHO Covenant and Prometheus have just as much in common with Alien movies as recent Star Trek movies with Star Trek series. They have very, very little in common.Too many years of development gap and way too much money involved in it.
