And they still want to take them out of service.

I'm glad Estonia is out of the communist bloc. I hope tensions cool down. We don't need another Cold War.

The ANG is an integral part of the U.S. national defense plan.

As such, they must train, deploy, and fight just as an active Air Force
unit would.

Dave - Those A-10s are from the 104th Fighter Squadron, 175th Wing, MD-ARNG, which is the same outfit that flew the MD-ANG T-6 that you made for me several years ago. In the mid-50s, I used to watch 104th F-51H and Ks and T-6s shooting landings at Harbor Field in Baltimore. Apparently they do not use the "Fighting Baltimore Oriole" insignia on the A-10s, although the Maryland state flag insignia on the vertical stabilizer is pretty classy, in my opinion.

Access Denied (Although this link says "Access Denied," it will take you to the 175th public affairs story on the Estonia deployment.)

The ANG units have been rotating into Europe and the Pacific regions a lot the last few years as part of Theater Security Packages (TSP). They usually last a few weeks to months. Some unit have gone for only 6 weeks, while some rotate in for up to 6 months. A lot of that depends on the unit and if they are needed for active deployment to combat.

A lot of the time they rotate into Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, and other former Eastern Block countries, like Estonia. Now, they are NATO partners and they train with the U.S.

This is the Fighting Oriole that Don is talking about. Only the A-10C carries
this on its right engine Nacelle, Most of the unit now wears the Baltimore Ravens Logo just in front of the Cockpit on the left side. Still would have liked to see the F-51 and T-6's but that's before my time.

Great video. Why would you want to decommission A-10s, look at them ! Used to get the occasional A-10 overhead at the distillery where I lived, as it was a designated target at the end of a glen.
