dexterity and eye hand coordination are key attributes for growing kids, I know I had my issues with it, and trained them both, so legos and models are great for the museum to show

Maybe you can recruit more builders and host a day at the museum displaying paper models as a group

My plan is to show everything from very simple models to some of the more complex models (like those of UHU02). Not only that, but I will have information on the history and the progressive development of paper models as a whole. There will also be a workshop and a "Kids Corner" where children can build simple models for free.

When I was in Poland, I had attended a paper model convention. There were different activities for children. I thought that it was a great idea. So, I figured that I would use the same idea to get families in to see the exhibit.
If it is successful, I may do more. It just depends on the feedback that I get from the different level of events.

Thank you for the offer. I will keep that in mind once I get closer to being able to put this together. I have to first focus on rebuilding my collection first. When I moved back to the US (from Eastern Europe), I was not able to take my models with me or ship them ahead. The good thing is, I can rebuild them with all of the detail that I originally wanted in the first place.

When it comes to the local IPMS accepting paper modelers, I'm lucky because one of our Forum members, Mike Vink and I are both in the local chapter. But then again we also build pla*tic too.

For around four years displaying with my local club at various shows, including IPMS, around West Midlands, I am displaying card models. Always have few with me apart from regular plastic stuff. But there is not much attention as pple here know only plastic. When they do actually look at them, jaw is usually picked up from the floor with eyes popping out (that is priceless )

Once I am able to start this project and am able to display my models, I am expecting jaws to drop.

I would certainly consider entering a card model at an IPMS contest. It would be best if there was a card category. Plastic can produce results just not possible in paper. Paper on the other hand takes skills not needed with plastic.

In defense of the IPMS group they do a lot to promote the hobby. The IPMS contests I have attended have included many wooden models in the contests. If paper has not been represented, I suspect it is because no one brings them.

If any model club does not want paper in the contest, perhaps they will allow it to be displayed. If they snub it altogether it would not be a show I would want to attend and not a group I would care to join.

Contest content and goal opinion varies, but I lean toward the opinion they need to be more an open show than a "Contest". Let builders bring their crafts to share and discuss with others. If you need a ribbon to feel good about what you did, then enter the "contest". I build for pleasure and personal reward not a trophy.
