They'll probably turn it into a "dramedy" starring Melissa McCarthy.

I watched it and thought the computer graphics were great but I thought some of the actors over acted there parts. The idea of paying an additional amount of $6.95 for limited commercials and $10.95 for no commercials on top of my cable bill a bit too much for a bit too little. I might watch this series if and when it comes to normal TV. As for now I just don't think so. wc

Remaking 'Singing in the Rain' !!! Bet that's a reaction idea after 'La La Land'. Wait until they decide to remake 'Casablanca'.
I never understand how a film can be remade, but you can't rewrite a novel.

Issac Asimov did with Fantastic Voyage.
Dean Koontz did with Demon Seed.

Just two exceptions.

Dave Cullen is my new youtube hero.
Whereas I have a tendency to rant, Cullen is more likely to deliver serious eye opening criticism and opinion.
I really enjoy his youtube videos....social commentaries he calls them.
I agree with most of what he says and like his opinions.
He covers some very wide ranging and diverse topics.

If you've got 20 minutes, check out his Discovery review.
Its got a few factoids and observations that really hit home and explain a lot.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and agreed with most, if not all, of it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBb0hyuIfYQ

......
I just watched episode 3....where we finally get onboard the ship Discovery
and find out what is going to happen to Miss Michael.
The things that make you angry in this series, just got ramped up.
It looks like each episode will be filled with more and more aggravating and frustrating material for Trekkies.

And...throwing in Trek Easter Eggs does not make things right.
No matter how many Star trek things they hide in each scene...
(the Tribble makes no sense*)
...it is even less Star Trekky.

*I thought Kirk and crew were the first Federation ship to encounter and deal with the Tribbles?
And they turned out to be an invasive vermin that can self replicate at an alarming rate.
So why does the Discovery Captain have one...and only one...roaming freely...
on the Discovery, 100 years before Kirk?

Wasn't it Dr. McCoy who said "They're born pregnant"?

For those of you that have seen episode 3, and will directly answer my question...
yes, I understand that the Discovery Captain likes to collect things...like alien lifeforms.
Thats partly why he has a Tribble, I guess.

But its unattended, sitting on his desk.
And we already know these are troublesome "animals"(?).
Not something you would have just one of apparently and not something you would leave unattended.
Any real Trekkie knows this.

And therein lies the problem...this show was not made by people who know, or understand Trek.

Well, they dont breed well, even with a sufficient supply of quadrotriticale.

Who knew there was an entire tribble breeding table?

I tried to watch the 3rd episode, but the dialogue feels like it was written by a 5 year old trying to write Star Trek after watching one episode of TOS. The acting was so bad my cringe-o-meter shorted out. And why does everything futuristic have to have holograms? Just because they made some deceased rap artist dance on a stage, using lasers, smoke and angled mirrors, suddenly everything sci-fi has to have holograms. If this doesn't improve drastically, I'm gonna give it a pass.
