No, I'm not Canadian.
But I am proud of what comes out of Canada now.
We used to be known for some of the most pathetic TV programs ever aired.
In fact, through the 70s and 80s, we would deliberately avoid anything "made in canada".
Probably the only show that showed any sort of promise was Starlost...but even that was cringe worthy at times.
I did like Red Green back in the day! maybe because the gang at Possum Lodge was so much like a typical day in northern Wisconsin!

STD...equally avoidable with intellectual protection...

I'm going to restrain myself regarding the show's merits, or lack of, as I am sure those of you who know me from previous comments have already guessed my position. Besides...there's a limit to the number of characters I can post, right?

I will share my concerns that coincide with Zathros'.

Last I checked, CBS was a U.S. base company that made its fortune off U.S. citizen's viewership, enjoyed the benefits of the U.S. airwaves (technically the property of the citizenry), cools their offices & lights their sets with publicly funded power plants, travels over U.S. roads and airports, and even enjoys the freedoms of a U.S. Constitution that allow it the freedom of expression.

Is it not like a spoiled child that they now allow everyone else in the world access to this series, EXCEPT for the people that fostered their ability to produce it?

Am I this only one who feels a bit exploited; that this selfish studio-child now demands more from those that funded the development of it?

It would be nice for an American company to see the countrymen around it as more than exploitable opportunities.

Maybe they are just too big to fail? [sarcasm face needed...] The future will tell for their small, spin-off, streaming system...

(Am I the only one who finds the show's initials, STD, strangely prophetic? To the series, writers, and sense of good will to CBS?)

Nope. Those of us who hate it call it STD. The proponents try and call it DSC.

I apologize for what is probably a dumb question, but where did you find it on Netflix?

I just looked and found no trace of it.

Simon live in New Zealand, where Netflix shows Star Trek Discovery

If you live in the USA, you WILL need buy access through the CBS All Access app in order to view ANY of the Star Trek Discovery episodes

Ah! Of Course...

Yes, I am one of those un-valued U>S> citizens that mean little to CBS. After all, why appeal to, or respect, me when you can assume I will mindlessly throw dollars at your pet streaming service.

After enjoying the benefits of the freedoms and opportunities of this great country, why wouldn't you feel compelled to try squeezing every nickel (or $19.95) out of your neighbors; regardless of how much those people provided the airwaves you have enjoyed at little or nor cost for decades.

Ah, greed...your scent is most offensive...

It is a good day to tune out.

(soap box put away again, after another rant...)

spaceagent...that ship looks a lot better than the weird ships in Discovery.

I don't know who came up with the design, but its annoyingly stupid.
I always thought the original Enterprise was awkward, but at least it flowed nicely.
And the followup Enterprises...the prequel Enterprise...even Voyager...
all flowed nicely.

But this triangular thing with a saucer inside a donut, just doesn't make sense.
