I haven't really got past the bad acting and writing yet to be offended by anything else about the series but I'm sure as I dwell on it I will

Thanks to things going on with my health I can't watch TV or movies. :(
And I like Star Trek.
Guess I'll have to hope they publish the stories in writing.

Ralph McQuarrie lives on...

all flowed nicely.

But this triangular thing with a saucer inside a donut, just doesn't make sense.

The ship was lifted heavily from a concept design for the Enterprise by Ralph McQuarrie for Phase II. The design was used in battle-space scenes in Nxt Gen. I bet they didn't pay him for the "honor."

Maybe he got free streaming?

I'm going to say... I like the show. Has a bit of a "The Expanse" vibe and maybe a bit of Battlestar Galactica (reboot) to it.

I don't agree with them doing yet another prequel show, it limits the show on several aspects, although assuming there's a major retcon underway, it might work.

It's by no means perfect, and there are several issues that need to be corrected for it be a viable show in the long-term.

But I'm excited by the potential of Star Trek: Discovery, it could be something, here's hoping.

Never heard of "The Expanse". What little tv I see is when I'm in a hotel room which hasn't been much over the last 2 or 3 years or streaming which since Hulu became a pay site is pretty limited also. Looked it up and sounds interesting, may try to find the original source novels. Haven't read much SF in the last 10 years either.

all fun aside, I really don't see the parallel between STD and The Expanse or BSG.
That comment really surprised me.
But everyone is entitled to an opinion.
I'm sure more than half of what I suggest isn't agreeable with all.

I will admit, that there is the Space, future, alien races connection...
lol
but ALF and Mork and Mindy had those same themes.

Yeah, but Alf and Mork and Mindy were funny.
