Tom Petty has died

Saw the announcement on the news last night.
Some info:
Tom Petty Dies at 66 – Variety
He had some interesting music. I was never a really big fan, but most of the time it was OK to listen to him and his collaborations with other acts.
For a while the way he looked reminded me of Riff Raff from The Rocky Horror Picture Show movie. No disrespect, just an observation.

'Runnin' down a dream' and 'Won't back down'. Two of my favorites. Thanks for the music! RIP

Unhappy

One of the misicians I respect the most. Excellent guitarrist. R.I.P. Tom Petty.

That just leaves Dylan as the last surviving Willbury.
Sad.
George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne...Tom Petty

Petty was always a skinny guy...looked a little unhealthy I guess.
Don't know what brought on his heart attack.

Ridiculous how this all got reported though.
Every news outlet reported his death immediately.
Shocked the world until the Police department had to make a statement denouncing the reports.
Saying that they had no case or investigation into any death.
As far as they knew, Petty was in Hospital on life support.

Every news outlet then had to retract their stories and apologize...
only to have to reprint it all again a few hours later (when Petty did finally pass).

This is what pisses me off about news media these days.
Why can they not wait to get the full and accurate story before doling out their non-facts and mistruths?

I was a fan of some of Petty's early stuff, but I did not follow his career.
I did like the Traveling Willbury's stuff though.

I enjoyed the early stuff, too.

My son as he was growing up tried to sing everything as a Tom Petty impersonation. Pretty funny hearing him sing along with Metallica with a Tom Petty voice

Please don't tell that to Jeff Lynne. He has quite a temper.

His music had an enormous impact on my teens and early twenties. I'll miss the music.

God Bless Tom Petty.
I played his music during my career with alot
of different bands.
Always enjoyed it too.
And folks loved to dance to it as well.
He is jamming with the good lord in
heaven now.
Best Regards,
Gary
