Igor is a member of this forum. He hasn't been active recently here.
But anyone can search for his name and look at his threads. He's made some very nice builds. Much better that what I can do with my current skills. That's why I said I was surprised to see such a veteran and good modeller who's known in several modelling circles doing what could be frown upon in Facebook. I guess any person interested in knowing more about him, or his actions, can contact him via PM in this forum, or through Facebook and ask him. I did. And let him know my opinion. His answer was short and did not satisfied me completely. Maybe it was a language barrier with three different languages being involved. There may be cultural nuances that escape me from the other side of the world. Or maybe it is just his style. Or maybe he knows what he's doing and doesn't care. I don't know. Beyond what's been said and seen I cannot make further judgment or speculation.

I didn't think the images were big enough, or clear enough to provide a very good print
but I guess its true that some folks will still try to save and print the images. And if that stops someone from buying the legitimate item, then an infringement has taken place. ... I agree, that watermarks and other devices can (and should) be added to deter the reuse of images. I always try to add such things to my own scans and jpeg images. ... No, I don't really know Igor....I'm just going on his responses which I thought were sincere. If I am wrong to think that....then I am wrong. (Note...admitting you made a mistake does not make you a "bold faced liar".) ... But again, this is simple stuff to deal with. You start by stating your case, and stick to the issues. The first thing I would have said is "you shouldn't be posting full page images like this. Please add watermarks and copying protection , or crop down the images so they can't be used for printing" ... I would also notify the admin of the page to control these types of posts. ... But even notifying an admin may not help... if the wrong person has control over what is being posted then we are all at risk of infringement, libel, slander and misinformation.

While it is true that different countries may have copyright law that differs from ours (USA), Facebook is an American business entity and they follow the American standard. To even have a FB account, you have to agree to play by the rules or you could have your account eliminated. This has happened, and I've warned "Joe Lau" about this before. FB policies on this are very clear. I'll say it now. Paper Model Expo has promoted IP theft, and I'm happy I'm no longer a part of it. They did me a favor.
