armyairforces.com closing...where now?

I was just floored to find out that armyairforces.com is being erased from existence.

It will actually disappear in December and all its data wiped.

I haven't been there in a couple of years, but it seems they had a system crash.
The owners of the forum couldn't be bothered to fix things.
A couple of years of struggling and fighting to keep things working, save data, and fix problems have resulted in nothing.
There was talk of another group attempting to retrieve and archive certain data,
but I don't know where that went.

armyairforces.com was one of the go to sites for historical information and to share stuff.
So many great experts there and a great source of historical information for those looking answers.
So many people just looking for info on relatives who served in the War.

I researched a lot of pilots and aircraft there.

Anyway, all data will apparently be lost...very sad that the owners don't care about the significance of everything there.

I'm just wondering if there is another site that I can go to for information on a particular pilot, his aircraft and Fighter squadron (in WW2).
Any suggestions?

Not a complete replacement, but you can get a lot of information and access to publications through the Air Force Historical Research Agency, including the links at their home page: Air Force Historical Research Agency

One of the biggest losses, I think are the discussions between members
when someone is looking for info on their relatives who served in the War.
I got some great info and help from some very knowledgable people with
regards to aircraft and squadron facts.

I'm dealing with a guy right now who is looking for facts about his Grandfather,
a P47 Pilot who flew D-Day missions.
We are trying to nail down the particular Jug he flew so I can do a model and/or artwork of it.

armyairforces was my go to source for help...but I can't even log in now.
(I guess many accounts have been deleted/blocked, along with the new registrations)
