If the launch ever happens it either will be a funny failure, or a horrible death.

I've seen better model rocket launches.
One News report claims Rocket Mike blasted a "half mile" into the sky. I say this particular reporter needs to go back to elementary school and learn how many feet are in a mile. Mike travelled a measly 1875 feet into the air. The Mythbusters launched a steam powered Water Heater just about that high! lol But, even at half a mile altitude (2640 feet) how would you expect to disprove the curve of the Earth? The surrounding mountains are taller than that, and still wouldn't give you a high enough view to argue a flat-earth. This whole thing is a silly joke me thinks.

This is probably a stupid question, but why not go up in helium baloon, or is that not 'dramatic' enough ?

If you are too stoopid to know the world is round you are too stoopid to think of a helium balloon (besides, Balloons are ROUND)
