"I don't like malt liquor"

"I don't like malt liquor"
That is the statement I received when I tried to give someone a bottle of single malt whisky.
I am clearing out my liquor cabinet since I no longer drink. I was listing what I have to someone and they came up with that "I don't like malt liquor" statement when I mentioned single malt whisky. I tried explaining that it is not malt liquor but single malt whisky and gave some information on what single malt whisky is which went right over their head. "But I don't like malt liquor". I have a good idea of why they don't like malt liquor, but that belongs on some other forum.

They probably would have put the single malt whisky on ice or mixed with with some kind of soft drink like coke or 7up.

Gil,

Until this year, I would have agreed with you, but Tullamore Dew just came out with a single malt. It is, indeed, a fine sipping whiskey! My brother gave me a bottle for my birthday.

To be passed on but not forgotten: Balvenie 12 year old, MacAllan 12 year old, and (to bring tears to me eyes) Laphroaig 18 year old.

Maybe a touch of water to waken them, but fer gawd's sake no ice or mixer.

For Christmas several years ago my lead gave me a bottle of Crown. I am not, in general a whiskey fan. I sincerely thanked him for the gift. I hope all of your whiskey goes on to loving homes.

My brother-in-law cut his Lagavulin 18 at my wedding. With Pepsi and ice.

Oh, the humanity!
